Peter Sellers is ONLY Inspector Clouseau. CHIEF Inspector! His physical comedy is done with grace and finesse. Who else could spill sugar and turn it into a soft shoe performance for his dubious neighbor? And inanities just roll off his tongue: "What kind of bomb was it?" the exploding kind."
If you are overly sensitive to Political Correctness you might find offense at some references to Cato, the Chief Inspector's man servant. Let yourself go: it's funny.
This is truly outstanding, classic comedy.

First ~ 3/4 was good, then it died off and became boring.

and
"A shot in the dark" are the two best Sellers Panther Movies.
Made eleven years apart.
United Artist declined "Return of". That is why it was not included in box sets. BE CAREFUL if you purchase.

All the members of my family are really fans of this series of comedy-mystery films with the real funny and somehow inept French police detective Clouseau. The clowns know how to make children and those not so young to laugh without limitation: the key is to present the unexpected. That's is what the Pink (Clouseau) Panther do… the unexpected… and that's why is so funny in all his presentation in this movies. Thanks. Miguel

Though there is some charm to the acting and characters here, the slapstick comedy is not that funny and far from being enough to carry this movie. Five stars? Whaaaaaaaaat? This is NO classic!!! Not by a long shot. Formulaic throughout and as others have said, just plain silly. Silly is fine if it's funny, but this movie isn't.
